Max Verstappen has been at the top of the world champion for years Sales lists in Formula 1. In 2025, the Dutch racing driver allegedly earned around 59.2 million euros in salary at Red Bull Racing. And that is still without bonuses, sponsorship income and other commercial deals.
But what does this astronomical amount mean if you compare it with your services on the track? We have decided to calculate it based on the number of rounds that will drive Verstappen this season.
How many rounds does an F1 driver drive in one season?
In order to find out what our Dutch pride earns per round in the Formula 1 World Cup 2025, we have to carry out an extensive calculation. This season consists of 24 Grand Prix weekends, six of them with sprint races.
Around 60 laps are driven in an average race in the premier class of motorsport. This corresponds to 1,440 rounds for the main races.
But as already mentioned, a Formula 1 weekend consists of more than just the race. There are also training sessions and qualifications. There are three free training sessions on the standard weekends in which drivers drive an average of 25 rounds per session.
This results in about 1,350 training rounds for 18 of these weekends. Sprint weekends have only one training session, good for another 150 laps.
The Formula 1 season 2025 in numbers
Then there are the qualifications. On the standard weekends, the average is around 15 rounds per driver, which brings us 270 laps. The sprint weekends also have a separate “sprint qualifying” that adds about 10 more rounds.
These weekends are good for another 150 qualification rounds. Finally, there are sprint races themselves: six short races of around 20 rounds each, which results in 120 additional rounds. If you count everything together, you get a total of around 3,480 rounds for the entire season.
Of course this is a rough estimate. The actual number may deviate: Verstappen could, for example, fail in a race. In addition, strategies of his team can influence the number of rounds driven in training.
There are enough reasons why the actual number could deviate. But based on the average of recent years, this is a reasonable approach.

If we share this 59.2 million euros through the estimated 3,480 laps, we get an amazing amount of 17,011.50 euros per round. Whether Max drives a training round in front of a home crowd in Zandvoort or does a millimeter work on Monaco’s city course: Each round brings him a good 17,000 euros more on his salary statement.
