Data shows how many online addresses hold at least 1 Bitcoin. However, it is impossible to determine how many people are behind this, as a single person can have multiple addresses. This information remains unclear.

According to data from Newhedge currently have around 840,000 addresses between 1 and 10 Bitcoin. During the peak of the last rally, this number reached 870,000. However, this does not give an accurate picture of the actual number of holders as duplicate addresses affect the estimate.

How many Bitcoin does the average person own?

If every person on earth held Bitcoin, how much would everyone have on average? The world population is currently around 8.025 billion people, while there are around 19.8 million Bitcoin in circulation. This gives an average of 0.00246 BTC per person.

However, in reality, only a small percentage of the population owns Bitcoin. The average Bitcoin holding is between 0.28 and 0.32 BTC, according to surveys and analysis from exchanges. This corresponds to a value of around €28,500. Many of these holdings date back to the early days of Bitcoin, when the price was significantly lower.
